Dax Shepard Explains Why He “Wasn’t Certain” About Kristen Bell When They First Met

You don't have to look far to see Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell's sweet and sometimes enviable relationship. They hand out marriage tips like candy, they're a comedy duo, and they even do eye masks together. And it seems the couple of 11 years isn't done sharing words of wisdom with their fans.

Dax recently spoke to Off Camera With Sam Jones to talk about the early days of his relationship with Kristen. "I have this very weird mix of not thinking I'm good looking, general low self-esteem, chip on my shoulder that I'm dumb because I was dyslexic, all these things, yet, unbridled arrogance in relationships," he explained. "I've always felt very confident in relationships . . . I wasn't fearful I would lose her. I wasn't certain I wanted to be with someone like that." Dax confessed that he saw Kristen's kind and caring nature as a barrier, admitting, "I'm not that good!"

However, spending time with Kristen helped him to see the benefits of that kindness and "the fruit she bore" as a result of it. He finished by saying, "more people care about her, more people will be there for her. It's just a better life, and I wanted that. And so I chose to move more in her direction."
