Demi Lovato's Mum Breaks Her Silence on the Singer's Overdose: "My Heart Just Dropped"
Demi Lovato's mum, Dianna De La Garza, is speaking out for the first time about her daughter's drug overdose last month. While promoting her book, Falling With Wings, Demi's mum opened up to Newsmax TV about her own experience with the opioid epidemic and recalled how she found out about Demi's overdose. "I was actually looking at my phone and all these texts starting coming in," Dianna said. "I was in shock . . . my heart just dropped."
Dianna and the rest of her family then rushed to the hospital to be by Demi's side. "She just didn't look good at all. She was in bad shape," she said. "I said to her, 'Demi, I'm here. I love you.' At that point she said back to me, 'I love you, too.'"
After being released from the hospital, Demi entered a rehab facility outside of California and is expected to stay there for an extended amount of time. "I can honestly say today that she is doing really well," Dianna asserted. "She's happy, she's healthy. She's working on her sobriety and she's getting the help she needs."
