Dove Cameron, Booboo Stewart, Sofia Carson, and director Kenny Ortega are reflecting on the legacy of their late Descendants cast member [1] Cameron Boyce. In a sit-down interview with Good Morning America — their first one since Cameron died from an epileptic seizure [2] at age 20 on July 6 — the stars open up about Cameron's bright attitude [3] and how they've been dealing with the loss.

"Cameron — even when he was around — is the hardest person to put into words, you know?" Dove said, fighting back tears [4]. She went on to say that the last conversation they had was just like any other. "It was pretty normal. We all expected to see each other a lot more — for a lot more," she said. "We had a lot of press coming up that we were meant to be doing, and we always do it together."

Booboo also described Cameron as an amazing friend and costar [5]. "He was the person you would always ask for when you needed to talk to somebody. He was always there, and he was that person for everybody," he said. Booboo also called the late actor "my little brother," recalling that the last time he saw Cameron was on June 16 at the Radio Disney Music Awards where they planned to hang out again soon after.

Cameron's high spirit [7] has continued to be one of the most prevalent traits his loved ones remember. "Even when he was standing still, he was bioluminescent, he was lit from the inside out," said Kenny, who recently honoured Cameron at his Hollywood Walk of Fame Ceremony [8]. "I'm 69 years old, been alive long enough to witness some pretty tough stuff. This was as tough as it gets. I didn't realise that I had as deep a place for pain to come from that the shock and awe of this unfathomable idea of losing this beautiful soul with such promise to this world could possibly be real."

Sofia — who chatted with GMA from Toronto, where she's currently filming — shared her own thoughts on her late companion [9]. "If you could bottle up happiness, that was Cam. He was pure happiness and pure joy," she said. "There really will never be any words to describe the pain and how much we miss him. And not much helps except knowing that he lived life with more happiness than anyone I've ever known."
