Meghan Markle [1] certainly isn't afraid to break from royal tradition when it comes to style. Case in point: Prince Harry's soon-to-be wife was recently spotted sporting a messy side bun [2] that stands in stark opposition to the perfectly tidy updos [3] her future sister-in-law the Duchess of Cambridge is famous for. But would the beauty rebel go so far as to dare to have a tattoo?

Not that there isn't some precedent for royals having tattoos [4]. Princess Stephanie of Monaco is inked with a dolphin tat on her ankle and a sun bracelet on her wrist, and may have more tattoos. Princess Sofia of Sweden has also not been afraid to show her tattoo love — even while wearing her wedding dress.

But the only evidence we could find that Meghan has ever allowed a tattoo to grace her much-envied bod [5] was only temporary in nature, and of the henna variety. The beautiful bride-to-be was photographed with a henna design [6] on her wrist and hand during a trip to India last year.

Meghan has not displayed any visible permanent ink, at least not of late. And if there was ever any photographic proof one of the most Googled celebrities of 2017 [7] had a tattoo, we aren't likely to see it. The soon-to-be royal deleted her Instagram account [8], and her lifestyle brand site, The Tig, ahead of her May 19 wedding [9] to Prince Harry. The rest of the photos we'll see of the newest princess will be carefully curated by the British royal family, and likely will not feature an inked Meghan.
