It's date night for George and Amal Clooney! On Tuesday, the couple [1] stepped out for a special dinner celebrating The Prince's Trust [2] at Buckingham Palace. The event was hosted by Prince Charles and brought out a handful of stars including Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Luke Evans, Tamsin Egerton, and Josh Hartnett [3]. George cut a suave figure in a black tux, while Amal was a vision in white — if we didn't know any better, we'd say these two were getting married [4].
In addition to supporting Charles's youth charity, George and Amal are quite close with the royal family. Not only were they both front and centre [5] at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding last May [6], but Amal attended Meghan's baby shower [7] in NYC last month and George recently came to the duchess's defence [8] following months of scrutiny from the press.
In an interview with Australia's Who magazine, George demanded respect for Meghan, who's been "pursued and vilified." "She's a woman who is seven months pregnant and she has been pursued and vilified and chased in the same way that Diana was and it's history repeating itself. We've seen how that ends," he added. Sadly, it doesn't look like Meghan and Harry were in attendance, but at least we have these beautiful photos of George and Amal to hold us over until their next appearance.
