George Clooney Shares His Thoughts on Baby Archie's Name, and Oh, He's Got Jokes

By now, George Clooney [1] has made it clear that he is not going to be the godfather [2] to Meghan Markle [3] and Prince Harry's newborn son [4], Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, but we had yet to hear his thoughts on the little one's name [5] — that is, until now. George and his wife, Amal, are close friends with the Duchess of Sussex [6] (they were present at the royal wedding [7] and Amal attended Meghan's baby shower [8] back in February), and during his recent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show [9], the actor was asked to share his thoughts on baby Archie's name.

After joking that Archie stole his thunder by being born on his birthday [10] (May 6), George added, "It's a good name. It's better than Jughead, too." Meghan and Harry announced their son's name on Thursday after the tiny tot made his first royal appearance [11] at Windsor Castle. Archie and Jughead are both characters on Riverdale [12], so it's no surprise that fans were thrilled [13] when the announcement was made. Now only one question remains: who will be baby Archie's godparents [14]? Fast forward to the 2:26 mark to see what else George had to say!
