This Cute Video From the 1989 Oscars Will Remind You Why You Love Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell
Hollywood golden couple Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell have had no shortage of adorable moments together since they began dating in 1983. While they've appeared onscreen as costars plenty of times, one of the pair's greatest roles were actually as presenters at the 1989 Oscars, which the Academy helpfully reminded us all of with a vintage video posted on Facebook. In it, Kurt and Goldie — who have famously eschewed marriage in favour of a more non-formal commitment to each other — can't help but have a little fun with the audience while presenting the award for best director.
"I was just thinking about how we fit in completely with the theme of the show," Goldie says. "We're costars, we're compadres, we're companions, and we're a couple!" Kurt helpfully points out that there's only "one thing" they're not: married. Goldie giggles and asks Kurt if that's "a proposal," as the audience goes wild. Unfortunately for all of us, Kurt jokes that the Academy wants them to speed things up and he'll have to discuss it with her later.
