Jason Priestley Reacts to Luke Perry's Death

Jason Priestley Mourns the Death of His "Dear Friend of 29 Years," Luke Perry

Jason Priestley is mourning the death of his close friend and former Beverly Hills, 90210 costar Luke Perry. On Thursday, Jason posted photos on Instagram with the late actor, sharing a heartbreaking message about how much Luke meant to him. "It's taken me a couple of days to figure out how to write this . . . My dear friend of 29 years, Luke Perry, was one of those truly special people who really cared," he wrote. "Luke was not only a star, he was an incredibly bright light that was extinguished far too soon . . . and that is why I, and so many others, are in so much pain today."

He continued, "If you had the good fortune to know Luke, or to have ever crossed his path, I know you are sad today as well . . . the candle that burns twice as bright only burns for half as long . . . you burned oh, so brightly Luke . . . Goodnight Sweet Prince."

Luke died on March 4 at 52 years old after suffering a massive stroke a few days before. Jason and Luke's characters Brandon Walsh and Dylan McKay were close friends onscreen, and the actors' off-screen friendship was just as special. 90210 costars Shannon Doherty and Ian Ziering also shared emotional messages following Luke's death.
