John Travolta and Kelly Preston Honour Their Late Son, Jett, on His Birthday: "My Sweet Love"
On April 13, John Travolta and Kelly Preston paid tribute to their late son, Jett, on what would have been his 27th birthday. While John shared an Instagram post with fan-made art that rendered a colorful portrait of Jett, Kelly shared a gallery of photos that included snapshots of their son smiling with his parents. Sadly, Jett — who was autistic — died in 2009 at the age of 16 after having a seizure.
"Happy birthday my son I love you!" John wrote in his post. Kelly also sent well wishes, captioning her gallery, "Happy Birthday Jetty, my sweet love." Their tributes came just a week after Kelly honoured Jett for World Autism Awareness Day. In that homage, she posted a black-and-white picture of Jett lying in bed and smiling while receiving a kiss from both his parents.
After Jett's death, John and Kelly — who now share a 19-year-old daughter named Ella and an 8-year-old son named Benjamin — launched the Jett Travolta Foundation. The organisation was founded to provide resources for children with physical impairments.
John has previously admitted that losing Jett was tough to come to terms with. However, in 2016, he told Good Morning America that the birth of his second son helped him heal. "Certainly having little Ben has been a beautiful kind of glue for us to rebond after a tremendous loss," he said.
