Julia Louis-Dreyfous is proud to report that she's cancer-free after completing chemotherapy [1] earlier this year. The iconic 57-year-old actress and comedian spoke about her battle with breast cancer [2] in a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. "I know we have to get this cancer sh*t out of the way, so bring on the questions," she said. Adding, "I feel very strong. I've got red lips, so what could go wrong?"
After being diagnosed in 2017, Julia has been open about the entire experience on Instagram. In February 2018, she shared a triumphant health update [3] and said, "Great doctors, great results, feeling happy and ready to rock after surgery. Hey cancer, 'F*ck you!'" When asked about her openness on social media, Julia said, "I got a lot of positive feedback. I think people liked the fact that I had a sense of humour about it."
In the aftermath, Julia said she's realised the importance of affordable and accessible healthcare. "As someone battling this disease, the idea that I might not have health insurance, which I do thanks to my great union, is completely terrifying." She added, "Healthcare should be for all — I believed it before, but now I really believe it."
