Kerry Washington Arrives in Style For Her Historic Night at the Emmys
There's a reason Kerry Washington was recently named People's best-dressed woman of the year — she was a total knockout in a Marchesa dress on the Emmys red carpet tonight! This was a very big evening for Kerry, as she was nominated for her first-ever Emmy for her portrayal of Olivia Pope in the hit ABC show Scandal. For the role, Kerry broke barriers by becoming the first African American woman to headline a network TV show since 1974. Despite not taking home a trophy tonight, Kerry received praise from the audience when she hit the stage alongside four-time Emmy nominee Diahann Carroll, who made history for becoming the first African American actress to star in her own television series where she did not play a domestic worker (1968's Julia).
