Game of Thrones stars Kit Harington and Rose Leslie tied the knot [1] in a dreamy Scottish ceremony on June 23. The pair's big day brought together the couple's nearest and dearest — including several key members of the epic fantasy show's cast — and garnered attention from fans across the globe. It was almost like another royal wedding . . . but for the King in the North!
If your invitation got lost in the mail and you weren't in Aberdeenshire to watch the newlyweds tie the knot, then these fun tidbits about Kit and Rose's wedding will make you feel like a special guest.
Rose wore a £15K wedding dress.
Rose's elegant Elie Saab bridal gown [2] had romantic lace sleeves and a mermaid silhouette. She topped it off with a flower crown, a veil, and a small white bouquet.
And Kit rocked a morning suit.
One might even call his suit coat "Night's Watch black."
Some guests — including Rose's dad — wore traditional Scottish kilts.
Rose's father, Sebastian, walked her down the aisle in a traditional kilt. Other guests, like Robb Stark actor Richard Madden [3], also dusted off their kilts for the occasion.
The ceremony took place at a local church — but the party was in a castle.
Kit and Rose exchanged vows at a small chapel, Rayne Church [4] in Kirkton of Rayne (pictured above), before moving the party to Rose's family home. That home? A sprawling 12th century castle [5] in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, called Wardhill Castle. The property includes 700 acres of land and can be rented for around £2,500 per night.
They used all local wedding vendors.
Rose's dad addressed the local press [6] about the family's excitement for the wedding and how it would benefit the Aberdeenshire community: "It's a great day for Aberdeenshire. We are using local caterers, local lighting, local flowers."
Well-wishers, fans, and paparazzi waited outside the church.
One fan even hid in a bush [7] to watch the bride and groom exit the church. Don't ever question the passion of Game of Thrones fanatics!
There were around 200 guests invited — Jon Snow-style.
Kit and Rose reportedly invited 200 guests and stamped the stationery with a little something special: Jon Snow's face [8].
The getaway car was vintage.
The bride and groom headed to their reception in a retro Land Rover Defender.
Before showering Kit and Rose with flower petals, guests decorated the vintage SUV with cans and signs that read: "Just Married."
At least nine Game of Thrones cast members made the guest list.
Among the wedding guests were Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen), Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister), Richard Madden (Robb Stark), Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark), Maisie Williams (Arya Stark), Joe Dempsie (Gendry), Conleth Hill (Lord Varys), John Bradley (Samwell Tarly), and Ben Crompton (Dolorous Edd). Now that's what we call a Westeros wedding!
And there were other celebs, too!
Like Rose's Downton Abbey costar Sophie McShera.
Also in attendance was musician Marcus Mumford, along with his bandmates from Mumford & Sons. (Fun fact: Marcus also attended Prince Harry and Meghan Markle [9]'s wedding with wife Carey Mulligan [10]!)
Malin Akerman joined in for the celebration with her fiancé and shared some of the only behind-the-scenes photos on Instagram [11] from the big day.
Rose's Honeymoon costar, Penny Dreadful actor Harry Treadaway, brought actress Holliday Grainger as his date.
