Laura Dern took home the award for best supporting actress in a series, limited series, or TV movie at the Golden Globes on Sunday for her work in Big Little Lies. While she gave her costars, including fellow nominee Shailene Woodley, sweet shout-outs, she made her speech all about the bigger theme of the night: female empowerment.

Dern took her moment on stage to shine even more light on the Time's Up movement, which calls for action to stop sexual harassment and gender inequality. "I urge all of us to not only support survivors who are brave enough to tell their truth, but to promote restorative justice," she said, echoing the sentiments made by costar Nicole Kidman in her speech. "May we protect and employ them. May we teach our children that speaking out without the fear of retribution is our culture's new North Star."
