Maisie Williams Jokes That Sophie Turner “Knows Too Much” About Her NOT to Be Her Friend
Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams don't just play sisters on Game of Thrones: they're basically sisters IRL! In an interview with Glamour UK the two actresses opened up about the importance of their friendship and how it's only gotten stronger over the years. From Sophie asking Maisie to be one of her bridesmaids to casually pretending to kiss each other on set, these two onscreen Stark siblings make real life look way more fun than being on the silver screen.
"Sophie knows too much about me to not be my friend," Maisie said, later adding, "Whenever I'm like, 'I need help! This is bigger than anything I can sort out on my own,' Sophie is my point of call." After eight years of filming Game of Thrones and walking red carpets together and getting everything from matching Halloween costumes to matching tattoos, these two have been through it all, just like real sisters. The pair even attended costars Kit Harington and Rose Leslie's wedding together, coordinating their red and black outfits to match. So cute!
Even with no actual White Walkers to worry about in the real world, Sophie and Maisie have had to overcome their fair share of obstacles growing up as teenagers in the entertainment industry. But the two best friends said they are always there to help each other overcome anything. "Maisie is definitely my protector and I'm hers, too," Sophie said. "I know if anything happened – especially if it was on Game of Thrones, which it never, ever would – she'd go crazy and protect me . . . Maisie is my strong home."
Honestly, if I could be friends with two people from Game of Thrones, Arya and Sansa would be my top picks — next to Daenerys, specifically so I could catch a ride on one of her dragons (not counting Viserion). But, dragons aside, Maisie and Sophie are just as cool and twice as funny as the characters they play onscreen — and their unique friendship is proof that sisterhood transcends the bonds of fire and blood.
