It's a week of firsts for the Duchess of Sussex as she continues to do the rounds visiting each organisation that she is the new patron for [1]. After making her first trip to the National Theatre [2] on Jan. 30, she made her second outing of the week the following day.
This time around, Meghan visited The Association of Commonwealth Universities [3] to meet students and academics from the ACU's network of 500 university members. According to Kensington Palace [4], The ACU "helps to advance knowledge, promote understanding, broaden minds and improve lives."
This Commonwealth-related patronage provides Meghan with an opportunity to work on a cause that's important to both her and her husband. Prince Harry was named Commonwealth Youth Ambassador last year [5], and attended a Commonwealth Youth Roundtable [6] this week. The young royals are heavily involved in the progression of the Commonwealth. Meghan even had the Commonwealth national flowers embroidered into her wedding veil [7].
