The Touching Thing Meghan Markle Did With Her Bouquet After the Royal Wedding
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are finding little ways to give back following their extravagant royal wedding. Aside from gifting the flowers from their reception to patients at St. Joseph's Hospice in London, Meghan also followed a special royal tradition with her wedding bouquet. The bouquet, which included Princess Diana's favourite flowers Forget-Me-Nots, was placed on the Grave of the Unknown Warrior at Westminster Abbey.
The tradition dates back almost 100 years, when Queen Elizabeth II's mother, Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, put her own bouquet on the Grave of the Unknown Warrior during her 1923 wedding to King George VI. The small act was meant to be in memory of her older brother Fergus Bowes-Lyon, who died during World War I, and has since been followed by many royal brides after her. Queen Elizabeth did it following her wedding to Prince Philip, as did Princess Diana and Kate Middleton.
