Disney's live adaptation of Mulan [1] may have been delayed by over a year, but casting is finally coming together. After finding the perfect leading lady for the title character [2], the studio revealed who will be playing her fellow soldiers, Ling and Po. It certainly seems like Disney is taking a step toward a more inclusive cast after fans signed a petition [3] to make sure that the beloved heroine, Mulan, wouldn't be whitewashed. Liu Yifei
The actress, who is also known as Crystal Liu, will be playing the title role of Mulan. The 30 year old, who previously starred in 2008's The Forbidden Kingdom alongside Jackie Chan and Jet Li and 2014's Outcast with Nicolas Cage [6] and Hayden Christensen [7], beat out more than 1,000 actresses for the role.
Donnie Yen
The Rogue One actor will be playing Commander Tung [8], who will act as a mentor and teacher to Mulan.
Gong Li
The actress is set to play a new character in the film — a witch who acts as the main villain [9].
Jet Li
The actor will play the emperor of China in the movie [10].
Chum Ehelepola
The actor, who previously appeared on Netflix's Lady Dynamite, will play a con-artist named Ramtish [11].
Utkarsh Ambudkar
The Pitch Perfect star will play a con-artist named Skatch [12] who teams up with Ehelepola's character.
Ron Yuan
The Marco Polo actor will play a character named Sergeant Qiang [13] who is second in command of the Imperial Regiment.
Yoson An
The New Zealand actor will be playing a brand new character named Chen Honghui [14], who is part of the Commander Tung's unit with Mulan.
Jason Scott Lee
The Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story star is set to play Bori Khan [15], a villainous warrior who has vowed to take revenge for his father's death.
Jimmy Wong
The Video Game High School web star will play one of Mulan's fellow soldiers, Ling [16].
Doua Moua
Moua, who previously appeared in Clint Eastwood [17]'s Gran Torino, will play another one of Mulan's fellow soldiers, Po [18].
