Nicole Kidman Acceptance Speech at 2018 Golden Globes

Nicole Kidman's Powerful Golden Globes Acceptance Speech Praises "Power of Women"

Nicole Kidman's performance in Big Little Lies continues to rake in accolades. After winning an Emmy back in September, the actress took home the Golden Globe award for best performance by an actress in a limited series or a motion picture on Sunday night for her role as Celeste in the HBO drama. As usual, her speech was not to be missed.

"Sunny, Faith, I'm bringing this home to you, babies," she began, referencing her and Keith Urban's two young daughters. She went on to gush over costars Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Shailene Woodley, and Zoë Kravitz, saying they "pledged allegiance to each other" before remarking, "Wow, the power of women."

She went on to praise her own mother, Janelle Ann Kidman, for the strong female guidance she provided growing up, as well the impact she hopes Celeste's story will leave on pop culture. "My mom was an advocate for the women's movement growing up, and standing here, my achievements are her achievements," she said. "This character I played represents something at the centre of our conversation right now: abuse. I hope we can elicit change . . . let's keep the conversation alive."
