On 8 Sept., it was announced that Queen Elizabeth II had passed away. The sad news was released in a statement by Buckingham Palace at 6.30 p.m stating she passed away peacefully at Balmoral. As the longest-reigning British monarch, the Queen reigned for 70 years, and leaves behind an impressive legacy.
Over the decades, Elizabeth has become a complete cultural icon, not just in the eyes of Brits, but for the entire world. With a life in the public eye, she always managed to be graceful, colourful (literally), with a witty sense of humour.
The powerful matriarch was widely respected for dedication to her royal duties, her royal wardrobe, and for modernising the monarchy. Having lived through some of the toughest times in her life including the the death of her husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, we have taken a look back at some of the most memorable moments from the Queen's life and reign.
