Rihanna [1] came, saw, and slayed New York Fashion Week. She put on an unforgettable first show for Savage X Fenty [2], the lingerie line [3] she launched in May. True to Rihanna form, this was not an average runway show — it was entertaining (choreographed dance included), incredibly inclusive, and cool as hell. The show at the Brooklyn Navy Yard included names big and small, women of many sizes and many ethnicities, and two pregnant women, Slick Woods and Janina Thompson, who radiated so much beauty as they strutted down the runway with their baby bumps. The show was meant to be a celebration of women and a good time for the audience, and it more than delivered.
Closing out the show was none other than Rihanna herself, obviously. As Rihanna joined the group of women on stage to take a bow, you could feel the love and the pride she has for the empowering lingerie she created. Rihanna wore a sexy brown dress at the show and an even sexier black dress at the afterparty [4]. She posed backstage with fans, hung out with models from her show, including the Hadid sisters, and showed everybody just how much of a gift she really is to the world. Never change, RiRi.
