Robin Williams's Son Cody Gets Married on His Birthday

Robin Williams's Youngest Son, Cody, Paid Tribute to His Father by Getting Married on His Birthday

Robin Williams's youngest son is honouring his late father in a special way. On Sunday, Cody Williams, 27, married his love, Maria Flores, on what would have been Robin's 68th birthday. Cody and Maria — who met over six years ago and got engaged in February 2018 — wed at his childhood home, in which Robin and his ex-wife Marsha Garces raised Cody and his sister, Zelda.

At the ceremony, attendees paid tribute to Robin and Cody's cousin Todd Elsner as well as Maria's late loved ones, her grandfather Daniel Flores and her aunt Carol Bowling. Guests also clutched yellow roses as a recording of Maria singing "Never Enough" played, and a candle with three wicks — indicating continued loved for family members who have died — was lit.

Zelda, 29, took to Instagram to congratulate her brother on his big day. "The 21st of July has meant many things to me over the years," she captioned a post with photos of Cody and Maria at the wedding. "It was the day my Dad was born, and the last day I got to see him." However, she believes the wedding has given the day a new special meaning. "On the 21st of July, 2019, it became the day I officially gained a new sister!" she continued. "To @mariaaafloresssswilliams and Cody, you are a light in all of our lives. I'm so grateful to have paid witness to your love over the years, to have watched you grow and care for each other in ways we should all be so lucky to experience."

The ceremony comes nearly five years after Robin — who is also survived by 36-year-old son Zak, whom he shared with ex-wife Valerie Velardi — died by suicide at the age of 63 in August 2014.
