Disneyland's long-awaited new Star Wars attraction, Galaxy's Edge, officially launched this week, with an epic media preview that included fireworks, a light show, and an appearance from some of the franchise's most beloved stars. Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Billy Dee Williams (aka Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Lando Calrissian) reunited on stage in Anaheim, California, for the event, alongside Star Wars's creator, George Lucas, and the CEO of Disney, Bob Iger.
The attraction has everything a diehard Star Wars fan dreams of, including the Droid Depot, where you can build your own custom droid, and replicas of the most famous spacecrafts from the franchise, including a TIE Fighter, an A-wing Starfighter, and (of course) the Millennium Falcon. As the cast tried to get the iconic starship going in a skit during the opening, Harrison Ford used the moment to pay tribute to Peter Mayhew, the man behind Chewbacca, who died earlier this year. Harrison was heard saying, "Peter, this one's for you!" as he fired up the ship and the fireworks display began. Take a look at some of the memorable moments from the launch ahead, and take a sneak peek at some of the things you'll be able to see at Galaxy's Edge when the attraction officially opens on May 31.
