It didn't take long for Riverdale fans to fall in love with Vanessa Morgan. After joining the cast during season two, the 26-year-old has since gained a huge following for her role as the fierce Southside Serpent Toni Topaz. Even if you consider yourself the biggest Riverdale fan, there are probably a few things you didn't know about the actress — like how she's an incredible singer, or that she originally auditioned for a different Riverdale character.

2. She's Canadian

Even though the actress now resides in LA, she was born in Ottawa, Ontario. On Twitter, she added that her mother is Scottish and her father is East African.

3. She Was on Disney Channel

Cole Sprouse isn't the only Riverdale star who got his start on Disney Channel. In addition to playing one of Sarah Hyland's best friends in Geek Charming, Vanessa also starred in the film and series My Babysitter's a Vampire.

Not only is she a great actress, but Vanessa has some pipes! She was first discovered by an agent who saw her singing at the Palm Springs Festival.

Vanessa's onscreen love interest is actually her BFF in real life. They're always posting adorable photos together and Vanessa has even appeared in Madelaine's YouTube videos from time to time.

7. She Originally Auditioned For a Different Riverdale Character

Madelaine and Vanessa first met when they were doing Riverdale screen tests. While Madelaine was reading for Cheryl, Vanessa was actually reading for Josie. Even though Ashleigh Murray ended up taking on the role of the latter, it all worked out in the end when Vanessa was cast as Toni during season two.

8. She Has an Adorable Dog

If you follow Vanessa on social media, then you're probably familiar with her Chihuahua, Yoshi. The dog has its very own Instagram account, @theyoshidiaries.

9. She Competed on The Amazing Race Canada

Vanessa and her sister Celina Mziray competed on the series during season one and ended up coming in third place.
