Here's Why the End of the F***ing World Cast Look So F***ing Familiar

26/01/2018 - 11:32 AM

While you were busy digesting the blood-stained whirlwind that is Netflix's new show [1] The End of the F***ing World [2], you were probably left with a few familiar faces you couldn't quite place. In order for you to resume your viewing without that "but how do I know her?" feeling, we've gathered together the roles the cast are best known for. And with the likes of Game of Thrones, Black Mirror, and Sherlock in their repertoires, we have to hand it to the casting agents — these actors are going places! Read on to experience a chorus of "oh, yeahhh."

Alex Lawther as James

While Lawther is credited for parts in The Imitation Game and Goodbye Christopher Robin, his breakthrough role [4] was arguably as Kenny in the Black Mirror episode "Shut Up and Dance" [5] (pictured), which famously left viewers unnerved with its very twisted ending.

Wunmi Mosaku as DC Teri Darego

Another Black Mirror alumni is Wunmi Mosaku, who can be spotted in season three's horrifying "Playtest" episode [6] (pictured). Mosaku has also appeared in the TV series Fearless and had small parts in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. She took home a BAFTA award in 2017 for her role in the critically acclaimed TV movie Damilola, Our Loved Boy.

Jonathan Aris as Professor Clive Koch

Yes, you've seen the terrifying Professor Koch before. The actor recently appeared in The Night Manager (pictured) and plays Sherlock's beleaguered Anderson alongside Benedict Cumberbatch. He's also had a handful of smaller roles in films like Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and The Death of Stalin.

Gemma Whelan as DC Eunice Noon

Without a doubt, Whelan is best known for her role in HBO's Game of Thrones as Yara Greyjoy (pictured), the sister to Alfie Allen's Theon. She's clearly a Netflix favourite, though, since she also nabbed a part in season two of the streaming giant's royal historical drama The Crown.

Steve Oram as Phil

Oram plays a lead role in Ben Wheatley's explosive film Sightseers (pictured). Fun fact: both The End of the F***ing World's Stella (Eileen Davies) and Professor Clive Koch (Jonathan Aris) also appear in the film.

Jessica Barden as Alyssa

Barden is most recognised [7] for her role in the TV series Penny Dreadful as Justine (pictured). She also appears in the films Hanna, Far From the Madding Crowd, and The Lobster.

Earl Cave as Frodo

Despite how convincing his gas station tantrum might be, Cave is actually pretty new to the screen. Then again, he's likely approaching it with ease as he's grown up in the public eye. He's the son of Australian musician Nick Cave and has appeared in his father's documentaries as well as the TV series Born to Kill (pictured).
