Ryan Murphy Reveals the Theme of American Horror Story Season 7: The Election?!

The theme of each season of American Horror Story is usually teased out over the course of a few months, but creator Ryan Murphy was happy to reveal the season seven theme a little early on Wednesday night's episode of Watch What Happens Live! "I don't have a title, but the season that we begin shooting in June is going to be about the election that we just went through," he told host Andy Cohen. "I think that will be interesting for a lot of people." So does that mean one of Murphy's small pool of favourite actors will appear as Donald Trump? "Maybe," he said.

In January, Murphy told reporters at a TCA press event that he had wanted to let fans in on the theme much earlier than expected. "I think maybe we'll release some of it earlier than we did," he said. "But I just started writing it, I haven't even cast it yet — except for Sarah [Paulson] and Evan [Peters]. It's a modern-day story. That's all I can say." At this point only Paulson and Peters have been confirmed for season seven, so we'll just have to wait and see how it all shakes out when the show returns in Autumn 2017.
