Who Was Biggie Smalls's Wife?

Contrary to Popular Belief, Tupac and Lil' Kim Did Not Play a Part in Biggie and Faith's Split

March 9 marks the 11-year anniversary of Christopher Wallace's death. The musician, who was also known as Biggie Smalls and the Notorious B.I.G., was one of the most influential rappers of the '90s and is best remembered for his hits like "Hypnotize," "Party and Bullsh*t," and "Mo Money Mo Problems." With the upcoming anniversary of his death and the recent premiere of USA's new limited series, Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G., interest in Biggie's personal life has grown. More specifically, people seem to be wondering: who was Biggie's wife?

Biggie was married to singer Faith Evans. In fact, the two tied the knot eight days after their first meeting on Aug. 4, 1994. "I never, ever met no girl like my wife. She talks to me like nobody else talked to me before," Biggie said in an interview with Vibe in September 1994. "When I first saw her, she was killing me with those eyes. I rolled up to her and said, 'You're the type of girl I would marry. She said, 'Why don't you?' So I was like, F*ck it, it's on. We had only known each other eight days."

"When I first saw her, she was killing me with those eyes."

In October 1996, the couple welcomed their first and only child together, son C.J. Wallace. C.J. joined Biggie's daughter, T'yanna Wallace, and Faith's daughter, Chyna Tahjere Griffin, both from previous relationships. However, Biggie and Faith's marriage wasn't easy.

Shortly before Biggie's death, the rapper told Vibe that he and Faith had separated. "That was my baby. At the same time, with us being so spontaneous, we did it backwards," Biggie said. "Maybe she won't admit it, but I will. We should have got to know each other and then got married. The relationship kind of dissolved, but we're still going to be friends. I love her. We have a baby together, and we're always gonna love our kids. Who knows? Ten years from now we might even get back together."

While Biggie nor Faith never publicly revealed the reason for their split, Biggie's former friend, Tupac Shakur, claimed he slept with Biggie's wife on his song "Hit 'Em Up." It also didn't help that Faith once caught Biggie and rapper Lil' Kim naked in bed together. "People was like, 'When she [Faith] stopped f*ckin' with Big, she started f*ckin' with Tupac, and Big started f*ckin' with Lil' Kim,'" Biggie explained. "That's the summary of the Biggie Smalls/Faith sh*t right there. But we wasn't f*ckin' with each other way before the rumours popped off."

Faith denied ever sleeping with Tupac, but she did reveal that he once asked her for oral sex "in a very surprising and offencive way." Sadly, Biggie and Faith never got the chance to reconcile before he was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting on March 9, 1997.
