Liv was born and raised in Taichung, Taiwan. Her mother is Taiwanese, and her biological father is Italian. She recently opened up about growing up in a bilingual household on her Facebook page, writing, "The truth is I AM TAIWANESE and I am a third culture kid. I was raised in a bilingual household in Taichung until 17 and hold a Taiwanese passport. My biological father didn't raise me — in fact, I have never met him. My Dad, surname Lo, is from Hong Kong and raised us bilingually because they wanted a bigger world for our family."

In 2011, the couple crossed paths when they were celebrating New Year's Eve with friends in a restaurant in Singapore. Liv saw Henry from across the room and decided to go up and talk to him. "Henry piqued my curiosity because he is tall and handsome, yet seemed really fun and down to earth," she told Her World in 2016. "As I was leaving, he was going to the bathroom so our paths crossed. I took the opportunity to chat to him as I had nothing to lose."

Liv earned a bachelor's degree in mass communications from Temple University Japan.

Liv is a double-certified yoga instructor. She created her own workout program called FitSphere, which offers various low-impact bodyweight exercises.
