Barack and Michelle Obama [3] are celebrating their 28th wedding anniversary! On Oct. 3, the adorable duo [4] penned sweet Instagram tributes to each other, reflecting on their longtime love and partnership [5]. "28 years with this one," Michelle captioned a snap of them enjoying a casual hangout. "I love @BarackObama for his smile, his character, and his compassion. So grateful to have him as a partner through everything life throws at us." The Becoming [6] author ended on a civic note, encourageing her followers to support voter turnout. "And this year, we have a request for you — pick one person in your life who might not vote and make sure they do," she added. "Tell us about it in the comments! That's an anniversary message of the best kind. Love you, Barack."
Barack also posted a heartwarming photo of them sharing a tender moment [7]. "Even with everything going on, I wanted to take a moment to say happy anniversary to the love of my life," he wrote. The pair met at a Chicago law firm in 1989. After a clever proposal from Barack [8], they tied the knot on Oct. 3, 1992. They now have two daughters — Malia, 22, and Sasha, 19 — and continue to be an inspiring power couple. Cheers to their special day!
