Barack Obama Talks About Voting Options in Instagram Video

Barack Obama Just Explained All the Different Ways to Vote, So You Better Hit the Polls

If it's going to take Barack Obama making a video about voting — and revealing that he has a finsta account — to get you to the polls, then prepare to cast your ballot! On Sept. 16, the 59-year-old former president posted an Instagram video, urging everyone to vote in the upcoming presidential election. He starts by thanking young fans for giving him all sorts of activities and content to enjoy amid social distancing, including making sourdough starters and watching TikTok's Renegade challenge (which he's apparently been enjoying on his secret Instagram). Barack goes on to share his expertise, outlining different ways everyone can submit their votes via mail or in-person and highlighting the option of early voting if it's available in your state.

"Now, there are a lot of people out there trying to confuse and mislead you about this election," he added. "They're trying to make you cynical. They're trying to get you to believe that your vote doesn't matter. Do not let them do that. Our democracy is a precious thing, and it's up to all of us to protect it. And upholding our responsibilities as citizens is perhaps the most powerful way for all of us — millennials, boomers, Gen Z, Gen X — to join forces. So, register, vote as early as you can, and do whatever it takes to make sure your voice is heard in this election." Watch the informational video above, and don't disappoint Barack — vote!
