In our Q&A series POPSUGAR Crush, we get to know some of our favourite celebs' more intimate details — from their first celebrity crush to the best love advice they've ever received. This month, we're crushing on global superstar Becky G.

It's been over a year since Becky G last performed, but now she's getting ready to make her big return when she takes the stage during Anheuser-Busch's Reventón de Verano virtual livesteam on May 2. The event — which will also feature performances by Maluma, Myke Towers, Prince Royce, and Sofía Reyes — celebrates Latinx culture, joy, and community, and Becky is so excited to be a part of it. "I think it's going to be really special. There's a lot of incredible people who are part of Reventón de Verano," she told POPSUGAR. "I wanted to really step up my game for my fans who are going to be watching . . . The pressure is on, the excitement is even higher."

Given that Becky and Maluma are friends and frequent collaborators, I had to ask whether they had any more joint projects in the works, to which Becky teased, "If something magical happens, something magical happens. The artist in me always leaves room for magic, so I don't know, we just have to wait and see." So is this Becky's way of telling us that she and Maluma are cooking something up together? Only time will tell. In the meantime, get to know more about Becky's thoughts on dating, love, and her adorable relationship with LA Galaxy's Sebastian Lletget ahead.

Who was your first celebrity crush?

I remember very vividly watching the original Sandlot and thinking the lead actor kid (Tom Guiry) was the cutest thing, not knowing that the movie was so old at the time. I thought he was actually my age, but he was already much older by the time I came around to watching the original Sandlot. That was my first crush, and soon after, High School Musical came out, and Zac Efron was like "the one."

What is your favourite form of self-care?

Eating and sleeping, very normal things. The third one would be therapy. I love me a good therapy session.

Speaking of eating, what is your favourite meal to cook/favourite takeout order?

I discovered that I'm really good at making fajitas, so I guess that would be a dish that I know I could slam dunk any day. Favourite takeout order: I love spicy food, so I love me a good spicy Thai dinner, or sushi.

What's your coffee/tea order?

At home, I love instant café de olla [traditional Mexican coffee]. It's just such a reminiscent taste of my childhood, and I love drinking it every single morning. The instant one, of course, because I don't have time to be making real café de olla. If we went to an actual cafe, I just love me a good dark roast black coffee with a splash of almond milk.

What is your go-to perfume or signature scent?

I honestly flop around all the time. I go into my mom's closet most of the time and just grab random things. And then I'll go into my sister's, and she has those body sprays from Bath and Body Works. Those never fail, especially after rehearsals. Carry those around in your bag and you're set. But I would say I love men's cologne. I love a good, strong unisex smell. I'll mix a feminine perfume with, like, a Cool Water, almost. This is going to be my new favourite perfume. I just took a picture of it the other day because I was like, "I need to buy this." It's a Maison Francis [Kurkdjian] one; it's called À La Rose. It's much more cologne-y than it is perfume-y.

What is your most memorable fan encounter?

I mean, last night I ordered Chipotle on Uber Eats, and I don't have Becky G as my Uber Eats account name, but I don't know how they knew it was me, honestly. I was at my tattoo artist's shop . . . and on the Chipotle order it said Becky G. He literally just came into the tattoo shop, didn't knock on the door, didn't anything, just came in with the food and was like, "Can I get a picture?" And I was like, "Of course, but how did you know it was me?" I was so thrown off. I thought that was very strange, but he was very sweet.

So I have to ask: What is your go-to Chipotle order?

I love me a burrito bowl with white rice, black beans. I love me some steak. I always ask for it well-done so that it's extra hot. And I'll go for the spicy red salsa, and I'll do some guac, sour cream, cheese, and all the stuff that's not good for you, basically.

You obviously travel a lot for work, what's the best trip you've been on so far?

I have two. A lot of the things that I've done to travel have been work related, almost all of them, actually. I've never really travelled for fun. I always piggyback two days off of something else that I've been working on to kind of enjoy where I'm at. But most recently, my mom got on a plane for the first time in over 20 years because she had this big fear of flying, and she finally conquered it. My little sister came with us, and it was like a girls' trip. I was there for work in Miami. My mom went to Miami for the first time, she got to see me doing my thing. I shot a music video out there, which was super awesome, and there was a lot going on, and it was the greatest time.

That's one of my top ones, and then Sebastian [Lletget] getting to finish his [football] season and come on the road with me. There was a week where he came to a couple different shows with me, and he had never been able to do that. That was my biggest dream, to just be able to have him there and be a part of my world for once, so I'll always remember that.

What is your ideal first date?

My ideal first date has to do with food, so I think he [Sebastian] did really good on that one. We went to get sushi, so that's also really good. Just good conversation, that's my ideal first date. I don't like noisy places.

What about your go-to movie-night movie?

Either Seb or I end up falling asleep, so we never end up finishing the movie. We both work so much, and any time we've tried to sit down and watch a movie — we're more TV series-type people, and even then, it's still hard for us to keep up with it together because our schedules are always missing each other. But we watched Ted Lasso together, and we had the greatest time. We were so impressed by the quality of the series, it was great.

What is your biggest turnoff/turn-on?

Biggest turn-on is just someone who is a great communicator. I'm all about communication, so in every aspect of whatever relationship, I think just a good communicator is just something that really gets me and means a lot to me. Biggest turnoff is ego. I don't do well with people who are very prideful. Just how someone even treats waiters is really important to me. I think if you're treating strangers better than your family or the friends around you that have been there since the very beginning, that says a lot about you and your character.

Are you more likely to make the first move? If so, what is it?

I did make the first move, actually, in mine and Sebastian's relationship. I can feel him rolling his eyes from a distance from wherever he is right now at work because he's hilarious when it comes to this story, but I'm just the kind of person that when I see something that I want and I know what I want, I'm going to do what I gotta do to get it.

I remember mutual friends [Jordan and Naomi Scott] kind of talking and putting in groundwork on each end. Jordan had played with Sebastian in the past, and his wife, Naomi, was my castmate in the movie that I was filming at the time. They kept playing cupid, and they didn't tell either one of us who we were or what we did because they didn't want us to fall under the pressure of, "Oh, superstar dating athlete! Oh, perfect match made in heaven," because they knew who we were as people. So one day I was like, "Nay, you gotta stop talking about this Sebastian guy. I have no idea what he looks like. I have no idea where he's even from. Just either drop it or show me what's up!" Finally, she showed me his Instagram, and I was like, "Ohhh, Sebastian. OK!"

I followed him on Twitter and he followed me back, and I remember it was like this ghost-y, "I know you exist, you know I exist," thing. I waited a couple days after my 19th birthday just to sound older, which is so funny to me now . . . he was like 23 at the time . . . so I slid in the DM real hard and I was like, "Hi, what's up?" So groundbreaking! [laughs] Honestly, we became friends first. We were vibing so hard. I was living in Vancouver and he was living here in LA playing for Galaxy, so it wasn't like we could go on a date. We were really forced to get to know each other, and it was nice.

What is your go-to first-date outfit?

I guess it just depends on the day. There's some days where I really want to dress up and have my tacones [high heels] on, throw on all my jewellery, and just be on my bossy vibe. And then there are days like today, where I literally just have my little hooded cap on and my very oversize boyfriend sweaters and my hoops. That's why I think the collection I did with PLT [Pretty Little Thing] was so cool, because it's literally both sides of me.

What is your favourite gift that you've ever received?

Time. You can never get it back, and when someone makes time for you, I just think that that's so amazing. It's beautiful. And honestly, sometimes I feel like I don't have enough of [it]. So those small moments that I get with people that I care about at home, it means everything to me.

What is the best love advice you've ever received?

That you just gotta do it. It's scary, it's intimidating. It's something that a lot of people talk about but don't know nothing about until they're living it and experiencing it themselves. So just do it! Just do love and never change the way you love. I'm someone who, at my very, very young age, has experienced a lot of hurt and a lot of heartbreak in different aspects of my life, whether it came to my career, whether it came to romantic relationships or family hardships, but to never change the way you love. You decide from any heartbreak that you experience or any pain whether you're going to be better from it or you're going to be bitter from it, and I just always choose to be better and love harder.

What song of yours best describes your relationship with Sebastian?

I don't know if I could ever find the perfect song. I will probably keep writing them because that's how I express myself, but I think the best one is yet to come. It's hard to describe an indescribable feeling when you look at someone and encapsulate that in two and half minutes or three minutes. It's kind of impossible.
