Benito Skinner Felt Like "That B*tch" In His Kylie Jenner-Inspired Halloween Costume
Benito Skinner knows how to make an entrance. The 25-year-old comedian is known for his dead-on impressions (think: Antoni Porowski, Kim Kardashian, and Lana Del Rey), but he isn't one to shy away from a fun costume, either. Last Halloween, he pulled out all the stops for Lizzie McGuire's igloo dress, and this year for Heidi Klum's iconic Halloween party, he knew he had to outdo himself, so he recreated Kylie Jenner's 2019 Met Gala look. "I wanted something as big and grand as the Lizzie McGuire igloo dress, and I was stressed to find something that would be as absurd and Camp and me as that," he told POPSUGAR.
You can't scroll Benito's feed without finding tons of Kardashian content, so when he and boyfriend Terrence O'Connor were watching the Met Gala back in May, they knew they found their costumes when Kendall and Kylie hit the carpet. "I just knew. I feel like so much of my work is Camp, so I thought going into it that if there was going to be an iconic moment that night, that maybe I would do that for Halloween," he explained. "Then, they stepped out and I was like, 'Oh, honey, it's done.' I turned to my boyfriend and I was like, 'And you have to be Kendall.' He was like, 'I already thought of it. Done. We're doing it.'"
For the costumes, Benito enlisted the help of costume designer Christopher Palu, as well as nail artist Naomi Yasuda (his nails read "Rise and Shine"), hairdresser Kyle Mihm, and makeup artist Shannon Rodriguez. The getting-ready process took several hours. "It's going to be a process. I'm definitely going to need a few SVEDKA cocktails before I get into the corset because it is not comfortable," he said as he prepped for the big day. "It's a very heavy dress. We're going to see how it goes tonight. I think also my feet are going to go numb from these heels, but we'll see. It's all worth it. I had my final fitting two days ago and I put it on and I just felt like 'that b*tch.'"
Benito attended the party as a guest of SVEDKA, for which he is a brand ambassador, so we obviously had to ask him about his go-to cocktail. "I'm kind of a sugar addict, so I think my favourite is a vodka-orange juice," he revealed. "If I'm trying to get less than 12 cavities a year, I'll rock the vodka-soda with like, 12 limes. I've been working with SVEDKA for about five months on this really fun branded partnership. I'm a part of their Bring Your Own Spirit campaign, which is all about doing whatever you feel and letting the freak flag fly." See the iconic photos ahead.
