On May 14, Britney Spears and Sam Asghari shared sad news with their fans. In a joint Instagram statement, the couple revealed they've experienced a pregnancy loss.

"It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that we've lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy," they wrote. "This is a devastating time for any family. Perhaps we should have waited to announce until we were further along. However, we were overly excited to share the good news . . . We will continue trying to expand out beautiful family. We are grateful for all of your support. We kindly ask for privacy during this difficult moment."

This would've been the couple's first child together, as Spears shares two sons, 16-year-old Sean and 15-year-old Jayden, with Kevin Federline. After the pair announced their pregnancy news on April 11, Asghari wrote on Instagram, "Marriage and kids are a natural part of a strong relationship filled with love and respect. Fatherhood is something i have always looked forward to and i don't take lightly. It is the most important job i will ever do."

Two days after sharing their pregnancy loss, Asghari issued another statement on his Instagram Story noting how the couple plan to move forward. "We have felt your support," he wrote. "We are taking things positively and moving forward with our future. It's hard but we are not alone. Thank you for respecting our privacy." He added: "We will be expanding our family soon," alongside a red heart emoji.

Support for Spears and Asghari has poured in from fans and celebrity friends alike. Gabrielle Union, who has been open about her own experience with miscarriages, commented on the couple's post with a series of prayer-hand emoji, while Andy Cohen simply posted five hearts. Paris Hilton added, "I'm so sorry for your loss sis. Always here for you. Sending you so much love. Love you lots B."
