On Jan. 6, Chris Hemsworth pledged to donate $1 million to help battle brush fires raging against parts of Australia. The 36-year-old Thor actor revealed his family's generous contribution on social media, along with suggestions for ways to help.

"Like you, I want to support the fight against the bushfires here in Australia. My family and I are contributing a million dollars. Hopefully you guys can chip in too. Every penny counts so whatever you can muster up is greatly appreciated," he wrote on Instagram. "Beyond appreciative to everyone around the world for their well wishes and donations. It really does make a difference, so dig deep! Love ya."

The fires have been burning since September, destroying over 1,400 homes and resulting in 23 confirmed deaths. They're forecast to worsen as they reach more populated areas, like the Sydney suburbs. "We are facing another extremely difficult next 24 hours," said Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison. "In recent times, particularly over the course of the balance of this week, we have seen this disaster escalate to an entirely new level."

Chris is one of many celebrities who have expressed concern over the raging Australia wildfires. Pink, Selena Gomez, Naomi Watts, Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban, and fellow Australia natives Hugh Jackman, Margot Robbie, and Dacre Montgomery are also among the stars shining a spotlight on the tragedy.
