If you've been shipping Chase Stokes and Madelyn Cline since Outer Banks debuted, your dream has become a reality: they're officially dating in real life! The costars, who play John B and Sarah Cameron on the Netflix series respectively, went public with their romance on Sunday when Chase, 27, shared two Instagram photos of their beach date with the caption "cats outta the bag ❤️."
The rest of the Outer Banks cast, Kooks and Pogues alike, showed their support by flooding the comments with sweet messages. Austin North, who plays Topper Thornton on the show, wrote, "YES SIR," while Jonathan Daviss, aka Pope Heyward, commented, "Well it's about time ❤️❤️❤️." Madelyn, 22, also chimed in by writing, "Topper punching the air rn" and "I've fallen and I can't get up." Gosh, we just love this cast!
It's been two months since Outer Banks hit Netflix, so here's a quick refresher on Chase and Madelyn's onscreen relationship dynamic, in case you happen to need one. At the start of the first season, Sarah Cameron is dating Topper, but that all changes when she embarks on an adventure to Chapel Hill with John B. Upon returning to the Outer Banks, they share a kiss in the rain, and she winds up breaking up with Topper and joining John B's quest to find the Royal Merchant's hidden gold with JJ, Kiara, and Pope. In the last episode, John B and Sarah escape the authorities hunting them down and drive their boat straight into a storm while en route to Nassau to find the gold. After capsizing, a ship rescues them, and it just so happens to be heading to the Bahamas. The season two possibilities are endless, but our money's on Sarah and John B continuing their romance while hunting down that gold.
As for their real-life relationship, Chase and Madelyn have been social distancing together amid the coronavirus pandemic for a few months now, along with costars Drew Starkey (Rafe Cameron) and Rudy Pankow (JJ Maybank). "We're all staying together, quarantining together," Stokes told People magazine back in April. "We made a huge fort in the living room, so there's this true honesty to the friendship you see onscreen, that is equally present offscreen as well." We're more than happy to see said friendship blossom into a romance for Maddie and Chase.
