That May, Dua had just split from longtime boyfriend Isaac Carew and Anwar had been linked to Kendall Jenner, though both said there was nothing between them.

September 2019: Anwar and Dua Confirm Their Relationship at New York Fashion Week.

Dua and Anwar made their first New York Fashion Week appearance together as a couple at the Marc Jacobs Spring 2020 runway show, confirming their relationship. They showed up in bright colour-coordinated outfits paired with heart-shaped accessories. Earlier that month, their relationship had reached another serious milestone when Dua accompanied Anwar to his grandmother's funeral in the Netherlands.

The loved-up duo walked the red carpet together at the 47th American Music Awards, marking their first red-carpet appearance as a couple. The PDA was everywhere in sight from smooches in front of the cameras to not being able to keep their hands off one another while on the carpet.

June 2020: Dua Posts a Tribute in Honour of Their First Anniversary.

On June 14, 2020, the "Don't Start Now" singer took to Instagram to boast about her boyfriend on their one year anniversary. Dua and Anwar are a family of three! Meet their sweet fur-baby Dexter, who they rescued from Labelle Foundation, a nonprofit animal rescue organisation. Dexter celebrated his first birthday in May and enjoys long walks on the beach, cuddles, and playing with objects twice his size. Dua calls their fam "3 peaaaaz in a pod."

In her January 2021 cover story for Rolling Stone magazine, Dua opened up about how Anwar inspired the music behind her most recent album. "When I was creating [my] first album, a lot of what was going on in my life was about heartbreak. This time around, I was feeling so happy, and things were going so well; I was like, 'Okay, I need to be able to portray this feeling in a way that doesn't feel cheesy to me,'" she said. Dua graced the cover of British Vogue for its February issue. In her interview, she revealed that though at times it might not seem like it, both she and Anwar like to keep their relationship private. "We have all these incredible memories and experiences, and if there's something that we want to share together, then OK, that's fun," she told the magazine, referencing the moments she has shared to Instagram.
