If you haven't been keeping up with the recent controversy surrounding Hilaria Baldwin, get ready for a rollercoaster ride. On Dec. 21, Twitter user lenibriscoe tweeted, "You have to admire Hilaria Baldwin's commitment to her decade long grift where she impersonates a Spanish person," along with a thread detailing just how Hilaria accomplished this alleged "grift." Their allegations were taken a step further by journalist and podcaster Tracie Egan Morrissey, who posted her own research in regards to Hilaria's background. Tracie's research included clips from Hilaria's previous interviews and tweets from those claiming to have grown up with Hilaria, as well as clips involving Hilaria's parents.

After a weekend of speculation from people on Twitter, both Hilaria and her husband, Alec Baldwin, responded with their thoughts on the matter. Alec defended his wife on Instagram, saying, "Consider the source," while Hilaria posted a series of videos going through the accusations and explaining her upbringing. Hilaria Baldwin's First Response Video

Hilaria addressed the allegations in an Instagram post on Dec. 27, saying, "I've tried in the past to be clear, but sometimes people don't report and write what you say. I'm born in Boston, I then spent some of my childhood in Boston, some of my childhood in Spain . . . So there was a lot of back and forth my entire life." She then went on to speak on her supposed "changing" accent, whether her name is actually Hillary or Hilaria, and what her ethnicity is.

Hilaria Baldwin's Second Response Video

In a second video on Dec. 27, Hilaria further expanded upon the allegations. "I don't know why it's turned into such a thing," she said. Hilaria then doubled down about how the press reported on things she'd never said and that she'd received a lot of calls for her to set the record straight. "I'm not going to apologise for the amount of time I've spent in two countries and I'm not going to apologise for the fact I speak two languages," she continued. "This is not someone trying to pretend to be something else, it's literally you just have two cultures."

Alec Baldwin's Response Video

Alec defended his wife in his own way, speaking on the nature of social media as a whole before mentioning the issue at hand. "The majority of what's been said — and, again, I don't want to enumerate what those things are — is false," he stated. "And some of it's so spectacularly false . . . As much as that hurts, the only thing I can do is talk to that half of the public or portion of the public who understands what I mean when I say, consider the source . . . consider the source."
