Jason Momoa Defends the World's Islands and Oceans in His Powerful United Nations Speech

On Sept. 27, Jason Momoa made his first visit to the United Nations to deliver an impassioned speech about the dire consequences of climate change. The 40-year-old Aquaman actor shared a glimpse of his trip on Instagram. "That was a life changing moment, a true honour to represent island nations at the UN. It takes an amazing team and support system to pull off something like this," he wrote in the caption, expressing gratitude for his wife, Lisa Bonet, and his children, 12-year-old Lola and 10-year-old Nakoa-Wolf.

Jason did not hold back as he spoke on behalf of the island nations. "We are a disease that is infecting our planet," he told the roundtable. "When the frontline is gone, we are doomed. There is no undoing," he continued. His powerful speech is just one of many efforts he's made to recently to address this important issue. Earlier this year, he shaved off his beard to encourage recycling, and he also frequently spreads awareness on his social media feed. Watch his address in full above!
