Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom's relationship has always been surprisingly normal for a pair of A-list stars in the spotlight. 1. April 2013: Katy and Orlando Meet at a Charity Benefit

It appears the first time the future couple met was in 2013, at the Coach 3rd Annual Evening of Cocktails and Shopping to Benefit the Children's Defence Fund. They were snapped together chatting with each other and co-host J.J. Abrams.

2. January 2016: Katy and Orlando Get Close at a Golden Globes Afterparty

Both Katy and Orlando were a few years out from their divorces (hers in 2012, his in 2013) when they met again after the 2016 Golden Globes and got verrrrry close at the afterparty.

Katy took to Insta to quietly confirm that she and Orlando were together, with a playful post of them at the Cannes Film Festival.

As rumours circulated that the couple were on the rocks, they showed up looking perfectly happy together at the 12th Annual UNICEF Snowflake Ball.

Katy and Orlando headed to the Vanity Fair Oscar party, but looked more strained than usual.

Only weeks after some awkward Oscars photos, reps for both Katy and Orlando confirmed that they'd decided to go their separate ways.

A fan caught the exes looking pretty comfy together at an Ed Sheeran concert, prompting speculation that they were back on.

Throughout early 2018, Perry dropped enormous hints that she and Orlando were back together, referring to herself as "spoken for [and] very happy!" in an Entertainment Tonight interview promoting American Idol.

In June, she seemed to confirm even further that her unnamed beau was, in fact, Orlando when she visited him in London where he was acting in the play Killer Joe.

The no-longer-exes looked sweet and at ease at the Monte Carlo Gala for the Global Ocean.

Katy and Orlando continued their streak of public appearances at the amFAR Gala in Los Angeles, mingling with other celebs and public figures.

Although they don't come right out and say the words, Katy's post-Valentine's Day pic on Instagram prominently features a new ring on her left hand. Neither officially confirmed their engagement until May, when Katy revealed the details of the proposal in a radio interview.
