Kieran Culkin on Cursing in Front of His Kids | Video

Kieran Culkin Says He Rewarded His Daughter's Cursing With a Treat

When it comes to dropping random F-bombs, Kieran Culkin might be a cursing pro. The "Succession" star defended his swear world title during an appearance on "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" on 10 Aug., in which he didn't deny the host's claims of being the "best curser" (a phrase coined by Culkin's "Succession" castmates). The actor and father of two admitted that his daughter is now at that age where she repeats everything, so, of course, he had a hilarious story to share about her new skill.

"I just let loose, and my daughter will repeat things sometimes," Culkin said before recalling a time when he cursed while making his kids breakfast. "As I'm making [oatmeal], I just think of something I did at work that could've been better, and I just went, 'F*ck!' And I hear my daughter go, 'Daddy, what f*ck is?'" Being the "father of the year" that he is, Culkin acted like he didn't hear his daughter curse, but that didn't stop her from repeating more F-bombs.

"I felt like I had two or three options there," he continued. "Do what I just did, ignore it, and then give her a f*cking peach, which is what I did. Then there was my instinct, which was to just laugh my ass off, but then that encourages it. Then there's the 'good parenting' thing, which would be to take a knee and explain to her that that is a bad word that Daddy said and that you shouldn't do it."

However, Culkin said that he knew better than to give his daughter that third option. "I know my daughter, and if I did that, she would just have one in the chamber at all times going, 'I can drop a f*ck at any point and ruin your day,'" he added.

So what lesson did Culkin learn from that situation? That when his daughter gets older, she may "associate that word with getting a treat," as Colbert put it. "Father of the year," the host added. Watch Culkin recall his daughter's incident above.
