Kanye West [1] continues to fight to put his divorce from Kim Kardashian [2] on hold. On 18 Feb., E! News reported [3] that the 44-year-old rapper filed an opposition to Kardashian's request to be declared legally single. In official court documents, West's lawyer states, "Kim's motion should be denied without prejudice so that Kim can refile it with the mandatory corrections and requested conditions set forth in the proposed judgment. Alternatively, a hearing regarding these additional conditions should be set."

News of West's response comes nearly one year after Kardashian filed for divorce [4] from her estranged husband after six years of marriage. According to Variety, the split was "amicable [5]" at the time, and Kardashian requested joint legal and physical custody of their four children, which West stated he was reportedly "fine" with. But since then, the two have made headlines for the many developments in their relationship.

Most recently, West and Kardashian had a heated exchange on Instagram [7] in regards to their eight-year-old daughter, North West. "Since this is my first divorce, I need to know what I should do about my daughter being put on TikTok against my will?" West asked Kardashian on Feb. 4 in a since-deleted post. Kardashian later responded to his post on her Stories, writing, "Kanye's constant need for attacking me in interviews and on social media is actually more hurtful than any TikTok North might create," via her Notes app. "As the parent who is the main provider and caregiver for our children, I am doing my best to protect our daughter while also allowing her to express her creativity in the medium that she wishes with adult supervision — because it brings her happiness."

Kardashian and West's romance dates all the way back to the spring of 2012 when they began dating [8]. They got engaged a year later. West popped the question [9] by renting out San Francisco's AT&T Park (now known as Oracle Park) for Kardashian's 33rd birthday celebration, and in May 2014, they tied the knot [10] in a lavish wedding [11] in Italy. Kardashian and West have four children together: North, 6-year-old son Saint, 4-year-old daughter Chicago, and 2-year-old son Psalm.

Since their breakup, both West and Kardashian have gotten into new relationships: the latter is currently dating Pete Davidson [12], while the former recently broke up with his now-ex [13], Julia Fox [14].
