Celebrities are showing their support for trans employees at Netflix. In response to the controversy surrounding Dave Chappelle's transphobic comments in his latest comedy [1] special, The Closer, employees at the streamer staged a walkout on Wednesday. In a video shared on YouTube, a handful of stars, including Ashlee Marie Preston, Jonathan Van Ness, Angelica Ross, Jameela Jamil, Mason Alexander Park, Kate Bornstein, Our Lady J, Sara Ramirez, Peppermint, and Colton Haynes, stood in solidarity with those employees by sharing encouraging messages.

Additionally, stars have been voicing their support by using the hashtag #NetflixWalkout online. Elliot Page, who stars on Netflix's The Umbrella Academy [2], wrote, "I stand with the trans, nonbinary, and BIPOC employees at Netflix fighting for more and better trans stories and a more inclusive workplace #NetflixWalkout." Meanwhile, The Matrix director Lilly Wachowski wrote, "If you're not standing up for trans lives, you need to take a good look at who you ARE standing with. Good luck today everybody!"

Amid the walkout, Netflix employees have also shared a list of demands for the streamer [3]. While it doesn't include taking down Chappelle's comedy special, it does ask Netflix to create a fund to develop trans and nonbinary talent, invest in trans creators to make more scripted and unscripted programs, as well as revise company policies when it comes to "releasing potentially harmful content." See how celebrities are supporting #NetflixWalkout ahead.
