Fascinating Facts About Comedian Sara Pascoe

6 Interesting Facts About Comedian Sara Pascoe That Will Make You Love Her Even More

If you're not yet a card-carrying member of the Sara Pascoe fan club, you soon will be. The 39-year-old comedian, actor, and writer is currently gracing our screens in Out of Her Mind, the BBC Two sitcom she also writes and produces. Although the show is described as a "deliriously surreal journey into the mind of Sara Pascoe" and based loosely on the comedian's own experiences of heartbreak and family (she does, after all, play a character called Sara), you would be mistaken if you think binging all six episodes of the series (available to watch on BBC iPlayer now) will reveal all you need to know about this Dagenham-born comic. For everything you need to know about Sara — the person, not the character — we suggest you keep reading.

Pascoe Started Her Career as a Comedian Back in 2007

And it wasn't long before she was winning awards for her hilarious stand-up shows, including a Chortle breakthrough award in 2014. Since then, she's become a regular on numerous UK panel shows such as 8 Out of 10 Cats, Would I Lie to You?, QI, and Mock the Week.

Not only is Pascoe completely obsessed with her adorable little pup, Mouse (can we blame her?), but she's also been a vegan since 2011. The comedian and actress told The Guardian back in 2017, "I have a plant-based diet, mostly unprocessed foods, but I also drink quite a lot of alcohol, so I am not completely healthy."

Unlike her onscreen persona in Out of Her Mind, Pascoe is pretty loved up. She met her husband, Steen Raskopoulos of The Duchess, at an Australian comedy festival two years ago and the pair got married earlier this year just before lockdown started in the UK. Raskopoulos even makes an appearance in the sixth and final episode of Out of Her Mind's first series.

Pascoe told the New Statesman that, had she not fallen into stand-up, she would have pursued her fascination with social behaviour and become a psychologist. Lucky for us, Pascoe found a way to combine her love for psychology with her whip-smart humour and penned two nonfiction books on the subject, Animal: The Autobiography of a Female Body and Sex Money Power.

We knew these two had some real onscreen chemistry! The pair met back in their early '20s when they were English literature students at the University of Sussex and have been BFFs ever since.

Talking to The Times, Pascoe revealed, "In some ways this show is my dream, is what I always wanted to make. And all the other stuff was kind of jumping through hoops so I could get to this point."
