Shakira [1] turned the 2023 MTV VMAs [2] into a family affair on Tuesday night. The 46-year-old singer — who's being honoured with the Video Vanguard Award [3] — brought her two sons [4], Sasha, 8, and Milan, 10, along for her big night. The boys were a true dashing pair, wearing matching gold and black outfits. Shakira [5] shares Sasha and Milan with ex Gerard Piqué [6].
In addition to her Video Vanguard honour, Shakira — who is already a four-time VMA winner [8] — is also nominated for three awards: artist of the year and best collaboration and best Latin for her hits "Acróstico" and "TQG" with Karol G.
"Shakira is a true global force who continues to inspire & influence the masses with her unique, musical prowess. Shakira makes history as the first South American artist to receive the Video Vanguard Award. Previous honourees include Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj, Madonna [9], Janet Jackson [10], LL Cool J, Jennifer Lopez [11], Rihanna [12], Justin Timberlake [13], and Missy Elliott.
