"Love Island"'s Shaughna Phillips Welcomes a Baby Girl, and her Name Is Adorable
Shaughna Phillips has welcomed a new baby girl into the world! The "Love Island" star took to Instagram on 6 April to share the happy news, revealing that she has just become a parent after giving birth on 4 April. Sharing an adorable picture of the newborn, the 28-year-old reality star wrote: "My darling Lucia, I wish I had you sooner so I could love you longer ✨💗 04/04/23 8lb 8oz 8:10pm."
Fans and celebrity friends alike took to the comments section to share their praise for the new mum. Fellow "Love Island" star Paige Turley wrote, "the most perfect little girl!!!! Can't wait for cuddles", while Indiyah Polack added, "Congrats babes!!!" Phillips added on Instagram stories that Adele's version of "Make You Feel My Love" was playing as she gave birth.
Although Phillips didn't initially publicly say too much about the baby's father, she did reveal in OK Magazine in Feb. that she had split from her boyfriend Billy Webb as she prepared to welcome their tot. "After a challenging few weeks, obviously, the baby's father isn't around. But my main focus has always been just to prepare for the birth and try to be as calm as possible," she said. Later, the Meropolitan Police confirmed to Metro that Webb had been arrested and charged for posession with intent to supply a Class A drug. "Obviously, Billy's not around, but I don't want to say that I'm doing it on my own, because I'm absolutely not – my family's incredible," she added.
Phillips, who first rose to fame on the first Winter "Love Island" in 2020, told followers she was expecting on Instagram on 20 Oct, just one month after Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury also revealed they were expecting their first child. Phillips posted a video showing her at an ultrasound scan, holding the positive pregnancy test, visiting her late Dad's grave, and showing the scan photo. She captioned the video with, "Our greatest chapter yet… ✨🤍".
Fellow Islanders were quick to comment on her pregnancy post. Demi Jones, who said she'd watched the video 50 times, commented, "I love you so much 😭😭 I'm so happy and proud of you!!! 👶❤️❤️❤️" while Molly Smith added, "Ahhhhh congratulations angel ❤️❤️❤️".
With the addition of baby Lucia, one thing is for certain: 2023 is the year of the mini Islanders - and we're so here for it.
