The costars of Netflix's rom-com The Kissing Booth [8] reportedly took their onscreen romance into real life [9] back in 2017. It wasn't quite love at first sight, but there was definitely a vibe there from day one, as Joey told Bello magazine.
"Was it love at first sight [10]? Well, I thought he was very cute when we first met, but it started as a friendship," she told Bello, via JustJared. "Right away we were talking about gross things with each other. But before long I started to realise, 'Hey, I think I kind of like this person!' It was such an interesting experience meeting your boyfriend on set because you spend so much time together and become so close so fast."
Jacob and Joey dated for a couple of years, but by early 2019, it had become apparent that they weren't seeing each other anymore [11]. In an interview with Refinery29, she admitted that the intense attention from fans trying to "figure out" if she and Jacob had broken up just made things worse [12].
"All you can really do at that point is shut your phone off and crawl into your sister's bed and watch Friends with her, because when you're going through something and the world wants to go through it with you or [wants] to get every piece of detail from you about it, it's really difficult... I think that the best way to make it go away is to just not acknowledge it."
Since then, Jacob has been linked to model Cari Flowers and to his Euphoria [13] costar Zendaya [14], although neither relationship has ever been officially confirmed.
Steven Piet
After her breakup with Jacob, Joey reportedly began seeing Steven Piet (right), whom she met while working on The Act. Steven was a producer on the Emmy-nominated miniseries, which starred Joey as Gypsy Rose Blanchard, a woman who suffered Munchausen's by proxy at the hands of her mother and rebelled with violent results.
According to E! News, the couple were spotted cosying up [15] during a screening of Harry Potter [16] and the Chamber of Secrets in September, apparently on a triple date alongside Joey's sisters and their dates.
"They were very affectionate and were with her two sisters sitting watching the movie together. Joey and Steven cuddled the entire time and looked very happy together," a source revealed. "They had snacks and drinks and were laughing with her sisters."
Steven and Joey were also seen together on the red carpet at the Walt Disney Studios Emmys party, where they were technically both there as nominees from The Act.
