You may know her best as Aria Montgomery, and soon enough, you'll know her better as Katy Keene, but here's what we're wondering: Who has been lucky enough to know Lucy Hale as their girlfriend? It's no secret that Lucy is a busy lady, especially with the forthcoming debut of the Riverdale [1] spinoff Katy Keene, where she plays the titular character [2]. Even though fans have been speculating about her dating life ever since her split from Life Sentence costar Riley Smith last year, the truth of the matter is that Lucy's busy practicing some self-love at the moment.
On her 30th birthday in June, Hale took to Instagram [3] to reflect on the milestone, noting that, "I've had so much to smile about but I've also had my heart ripped in two," and for now, Lucy wants to "find things I love about myself." She may be single for the time being, but let's take a walk down memory lane and see who's romanced the Pretty Little Liars [4] star in the past.
David Henrie
Though David Henrie was once rumoured to be romancing his on-screen sister Selena Gomez [6], the Wizards of Waverly Place actor was actually dating Lucy, who guest-starred on the series in 2007 as David's love interest, Miranda. The pair dated for over two years, but when asked by J-14 back in 2014 if he would ever get back together with Lucy, David suggested that their relationship was purely platonic [7] after their breakup. "No, we're friends. We're just buddies now," he said, so it seems as though they ended on good terms.
Alex Marshall
Soon after the premiere of Pretty Little Liars [8], Lucy sparked dating rumours with The Cab keyboard player Alex Marshall. Hale seemingly confirmed the relationship [9] when she tweeted, "He bought me a rose," alongside a picture of the two of them in October 2010, but the two only lasted for a few months after that before going their separate ways.
Chris Zylka
After Alex, Lucy dated Amazing Spider-Man actor Chris Zylka for about nine months before some cryptic tweets from Chris [10] suggested that the two were done. The duo first met at New Years Eve party, but when a fan tweeted at Chris that his "girlfriend is gorgeous" in September 2012, Chris replied, "Don't have a girlfriend. She decided she was too good."
Luckily, Chris later apologised [11] in a series of tweets. "I'd like to apologise about my previous comments," he said. "Lucy is not only one of the most talented people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing, but also one the most beautiful, inside and out. Anyone who's ever watched, or had the pleasure of meeting her, knows this to be true."
Graham Rogers
Lucy was rumoured to have dated actor Graham Rogers for three months before they broke up in September 2013 [12]. The actress first confirmed their relationship to Us Weekly in June 2013, telling them, "He is such a sweetheart. We are having a good time." The couple even went on a romantic trip to Hawaii together that July before splitting two months later.
Joel Crouse
In 2014, Lucy dated country singer Joel Crouse for a few months. The couple was first spotted together in April 2014 at a Lakers Game, where Lucy shared an Instagram pic of the two captioned, "First lakers game. Was really great teaching this one the rules of the game. And seeing him looking like a kid in a candy store @joelcrouse." The pair split in June, and a source alleged to Us Weekly that it was due to the distance [13] and Lucy's work demands.
Adam Pitts
Another past flame for Lucy includes Lawson drummer Adam Pitts, whom she was first seen in public with in September 2014 [14] while the two held hands and shopped together in Beverly Hills. Though no breakup was ever announced, the last public sighting for the two was in March 2015 [15].
Anthony Kalabretta
After Adam, Lucy was in a two-year relationship with musician Anthony Kalabretta. When asked about the relationship by People back in September 2016, Lucy had nothing but good things to say [16], despite some rumours of trouble in paradise. "[It's going] good," she said. "He's great."
However, according to Daily Mail, the May 2017 breakup may not have been quite so amicable, as they unfollowed each other on social media [17] and deleted several of their Instagram pics together [18] following the split. Then, just a month after their reported breakup, Lucy tweeted a photo [19] of the two of them in front of a helicopter, but it may have just been as friends. She does follow Adam on Instagram again now, so it seems things are cool between them, even if they don't decide to rekindle their romance.
Riley Smith
Lucy and her ex Riley Smith reportedly only dated for a few months before their June 2018 split. The costars were first spotted kissing on Valentine's Day [20] in 2018, according to Us Weekly, but a source confirmed to Us Weekly that the two had decided to go their separate ways [21] soon after it was announced that Life Sentence wouldn't be returning for a second season.
Ryan Rottman
Lucy briefly ignited new dating rumours when she was seen holding hands with actor Ryan Rottman [22], but little more was heard about the potential couple after that initial sighting.
