What a weekend for Wrexham FC! The Welsh football club, owned by actors Ryan Reynolds [1] and Rob McElhenney, were promoted to the English football league for the first time in 15 years. The historic moment saw the team win 3-1 against Borehamwood as 10,000 fans cheered them on. Reynolds posted a carousel of celebratory photos on Instagram [2] after the match, alongside the hilariously emotional caption: "Everything I own smells like champagne, beer and grass. I'm still somewhere between giggling and sobbing. This town and this sport is one of the most romantic things on earth. Thank you, @wrexham_afc".
In the crowd for the momentous occasion, Reynolds and McElhenney were joined by another A-list actor: Paul Rudd [3]. The "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" star was spotted in the stands watching the match intently with his Hollywood pals. But even before kick-off, Rudd immersed himself in Welsh culture by heading for a pre-game pint at the Turf Hotel pub. He was also joined by film director, Joe Russo, best known for directing four MCU films including "Avengers: Endgame" alongside his brother.
These aren't the only A-list stars who've shown their support for Wrexham FC. "The Crown" star Emma Corrin [4], who will be starring alongside Reynolds in "Deadpool 3", watched a nail-biting match against Notts County on 10 April, while Blake Lively and their four kids arrived at The Racehorse Ground [5] in March, and David Beckham and Will Ferrell have been spotted at games [6], too.
