I've watched a lot of celebrity interviews in my lifetime, and almost none of them have brought me as much joy as Zaya Wade's recent Q&A session with Michelle Obama. On Thursday, the 13-year-old had the honour of interviewing her idol on Instagram to celebrate the release of the young readers' edition of Michelle's Becoming memoir. Before asking the former first lady about what advice she has for teens who want to be themselves and thrive, Zaya could not help but fangirl over the huge moment. "I'm meeting an idol. I'm literally meeting an idol," Dwyane Wade's daughter gushed. "[I've been] preparing for this moment for so long."
Naturally, Michelle was just as excited to talk to Zaya, adding, "I am just so proud of you, you know, being just an amazing role model and embracing your truth." From Michelle and Zaya fangirling over each other to Michelle's inspiring advice, their entire exchange had me smiling from ear-to-ear the entire time.
