Ali Wong and Randall Park's Netflix Rom-Com Has the Cast of Your Dreams

31/05/2018 - 05:06 PM

The romantic comedy drought [1] may finally be over, you guys. Thanks to original, critically-acclaimed films like The Big Sick and the recently released (and hilarious) Book Club [2], as well as the highly-anticipated adaptation of Crazy Rich Asians [3], it appears Hollywood has officially gotten back on board the rom-com train. As if that wasn't exciting enough, stand-up comedy goddess Ali Wong has teamed up with Fresh Off the Boat's Randall Park for a rom-com of their own on Netflix — are we blessed, or what?

The film, Always Be My Maybe, follows Wong and Park as childhood sweethearts Sasha and Marcus who stop speaking to each other for 15 years after a dramatic falling out. They end up reconnecting years later as adults, when Sasha is a celebrity chef and Marcus is a struggling musician who works for his dad. In other words, it sounds like the perfect will-they-or-won't-they set up.

Although an official release date is still TBD, Wong and Park have added a bunch of awesome new actors to the cast [4]. See who else is set to star ahead!

Ali Wong

Wong rocketed to fame after the debut of her 2016 Netflix stand-up special Baby Cobra, but she's also appeared in American Housewife and an episode of Fresh Off the Boat, on which she's also served as a writer. Her latest stand-up special, Hard Knock Wife [5], is now streaming.

Randall Park

In addition to starring on Fresh Off the Boat as Louis Huang, Park has also popped up in episodes of Veep, and in movies like Trainwreck and The Interview. He's set to play Jimmy Woo in Ant-Man and the Wasp later this Summer.

Keanu Reeves

We don't know who Reeves is playing just yet, but it's safe to say he'll have us all swooning. This isn't the only rom-com he has on his line-up, either — he costars with Winona Ryder [6] in Destination Wedding [7], due out in August.

Karan Soni

The Deadpool and Deadpool 2 breakout has officially signed on to the movie.

Charlyne Yi

Yi has been in everything from This Is 40 and Knocked Up to Cloverfield and episodes of Steven Universe. Maybe she'll play one of Sasha's quirky celebrity clients?

Daniel Dae Kim

The Lost and Hawaii Five-0 alum will appear alongside Park and Wong in Always Be My Maybe, but you'll also be able to check him out as Ben Daimio in next year's Hellboy.
