Ariana Grande [1] brought all sorts of magic and power to the stage during her debut TV performance of "Imagine" on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon [2]. The 25-year-old singer not only helped the host recreate an iconic Saturday Night Live skit [3] during her Dec. 18 visit, but also blew us away (once again) with her vocal talents. Joined by The Roots, Grande brought the romantic track from her new album [4] to life for the audience, complete with several impossibly high whistle tones. The. Woman. Can. Sing!
It's rumoured that "Imagine" is a tribute to Grande's ex-boyfriend Mac Miller [5], who died of an accidental overdose in September [6]. While Grande has described her previous track "Thank U, Next" as "self-assured" and "commanding," [7] this latest song draws heavily from vulnerability, an emotion you can definitely recognise in her powerful performance. Watch the video above to hear her unbelievable range for yourself.
